Born and raised in Saskatoon, Tony Nadon is an Emergency Services professional with over 25 years of experience. Starting as a Paramedic in the early 1990’s, Tony shifted gears in 1997 to become a police officer. He served as a SWAT member for 12 years and currently holds the rank of Staff Sergeant with the Saskatoon Police Service and is the Watch Commander for sixty patrol members while on duty.
Over the last twenty years, Tony has adapted to the life of shiftwork and has learned how to manage the difficult schedule and stressors that come with it. Couple this with the high-risk, high-stress occupational hazardous he faces every day, and you have someone who understands first-hand the dangers that arise from working beyond 12+ hours per day in a fatigued state.
Over the last five years, Tony has used this understanding of the effects of fatigue and stress, and sleeplessness in the workplace to focus on building a mental wellness program for the police service. Through this program, he is helping to reduce the stigma of mental wellness by addressing the problem head-on and starting the ‘difficult conversations’ with his team. He now assists team members dealing with personal or occupational stressors that are in need of assistance.
Tony is now expanding his desire to battle mental wellness in the workplace by joining Sleepwell Consulting as a consultant. In this role, he works closely with companies of all sizes to help them discover how to effectively implement a fully comprehensive wellness program. By doing this, he is helping companies better recognize employees in need and guiding them on how to extend a hand for help, which positively affects all aspects of the company.
